• Stream Assessment: Passaic River

Stream Assessment: Passaic River is a publicly-engaged art and ecology project that works directly with the community to create an eco-feminist narrative of the Passaic River through community sampling efforts.
This social practice inspires, informs, and will lead directly into the creation of an editioned interactive artist's book.

Join the project team led by artist Amanda Thackray with biologist Allison Fitzgerald (New Jersey City University), ethnographer Stephanie Jordan (Michigan State University), and the Director of Water Quality Programs at Great Swamp Watershed Association Sandra LaVigne, at the First Landing Party of the Founders of Newark monument at NUPAC to walk down to Riverfront Park together (approx. 30 min walk). Participate in the launch of the project and work directly with the project team on sampling water from and conducting visual assessments with the Passiac River to learn what is in our waterways and to connect more closely with the river we live alongside.
